Volunteer and Distribution Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY
The Volunteer and Distribution Coordinator will report to the Director of Programs and Outreach. This position must provide excellent customer service to teachers, and all who walk through AGFT’s doors, working with and leading volunteers to ensure a positive experience for our teacher shoppers. Responsible for the operations of our Free Teacher Supply Store, this position includes early evening (until 6:30 p.m.) and occasional Saturday hours.
 

The Volunteer and Distribution Coordinator is responsible for creating an attractive, clean, highly functional retail environment through the implementation of effective merchandising plans and product displays in order to increase teacher participation and product distribution.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary supervision for volunteers and provide ongoing/motivating/consistent training and orientation of all store operation volunteers, as developed by the Director of Programs and Outreach.

  • Oversee all volunteer groups through prep projects and curbside delivery. Coordinate and manage merchandising and stocking processes, maintaining all shelves are stocked with ample materials for each shopping day.

  • Provide teachers with a positive Free Teacher Supply Store experience, working closely with volunteers, and deliver exceptional customer service to all; ensure all first-time teacher shoppers receive consistent “welcome” orientation and tour.

  • Prepare shopping sheet to include product limits and values for available items.

  • Assist in executing all monthly promotions, store décor, and in-store events such as STEM week, Teacher Appreciation, etc.

  • Assist with teacher and volunteer databases.

  • Develop and maintain attractive and effective merchandising plan, product displays, and in-store promotions.

  • Ensure that, each day, the opening and closing checklist has been completed.

  • Responsible for store closing procedures and placement of inventory for next day restocking.

  • Work with the Operations Coordinator for Free Teacher Supply Store duties.

 
General:

  • Assist as needed with all on or off-site organizational events.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications:
  • High school or GED education and relevant work experience.

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

  • Customer service focused with the ability to tactfully and skillfully handle diverse groups of people.

  • Extremely organized with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Ability to competently execute and manage tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills, both interpersonal and written.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Office 365, spreadsheets and databases required.

  • Experience in effectively delegating and managing others; with previous volunteer management preferred.

  • Physically able to pull and restock store inventory (may require lifting up to 50 lbs.) or to stand for long periods of time.

  • Self-motivated to work both independently and with a team.
